George Naylor Julian Captain 13th NH Vols
born in Exeter, N.H. on March 17, 1841. In April 1861, following the bombardment of Fort Sumter, he enlisted as a private in the Second Battery (Nims) of Massachusetts Light Artillery, serving as a driver of a six-horse team on a field piece. On July 28, 1862, Julian received a commission as Captain of a newly-formed company of the 13th Regiment of New Hampshire Volunteers. After the war he entered his fatherís business as a wool trader and between 1875 and 1892 operated out of San Francisco. He married Charlotte Hannah Vinall and the couple had two daughters and three sons. In 1898, he became postmaster of Exeter, a position he held for five years. He died on July 26, 1927.
